I've just watched Black Candle and I'm very curious to know just how evil and what kinds of evil Nat's other roles can be...After being charmed by Lynley...I'm
speechless about his Lionel in Black Candle. God I hope I never fall for anybody like that character!!!
EVIL. Incredibly so.
Makes the skin crawl.
I'm very curious to see what other kinds of roles there will be for Nat...
especially baddies.

I also recently watched TBC for the first time in ages and was struck afresh at how shocking it was to see Nat play such a vile person, especially towards women. That's because he's so darm convincing!

A few other nasties are;

A Village Affair and Wide Sargasso Sea - where he has further scenes of domestic violence.

Trust - where he plays to perfection a subtle and devious baddie.

In the Poirot he is the baddie but it's pretty low-key and in Heroes II he gets rather viscious at times.

But Dangerous Games is by far the worst/best I think. He is ruthlessly violent and totally without conscience. Decidedly chilling!

Disturbing though it is to see Nat in such a horrible light, it's also brilliant because you can see, by having a much bigger picture than the Lynleys (which do very little to display his talents, IMHO) that he is one of our finest, though very underrated, actors.

I just saw Village Affair and Wide Sargasso Sea. In case anybody wants to try the libraries-US lending libraries will lend those films, but not the Lynleys.
Usually I really don't like baddies who have an abusive streak, especially towards women, but I'd watch it for Nat. I think it's more interesting to see the mental side of it...but I'd rather not see domestic violence, especially towards women. The emotional part of it has interest...that's the part of baddies that is worth watching.
Some TV show was just doing a story about domestic violence-about how strangers would react to something when a woman is abusing a man.
I don't think I've ever seen characters like that. If there's going to be abuse in a story, that would be a more interesting take on it. All the bystanders just assumed the men in the news story (actors) were deserving of the abuse because of cheating, and that a woman abusing a man was not a real threat to call the police about.

gamerchick02, I take offence to the sixteen year-old girl remark, I happen to be fully competent! No, no I'm completely off my rocker and just kidding, no offence taken. Anyway, I did some digging and I found this; I hope you haven't seen it, but if you have, I hope you get another chuckle as I certainly did!
