Dear all,

Louise Penny's been to the set again, here's her account

Amazing time on the set of STILL LIFE! Met so many of the actors playing major characters....Ruth, Gabri and Olivier, Peter and Clara - Beauvoir. and others. and, of course, Gamache. Gamaches! They were filming a scene near the end...the
party in the art gallery. Complex, lots of movement and creating an atmosphere at once convivial and vaguely unsettling. Wonderful acting...including, Ralph cosham!! We drove to the set together and had dinner with him in a restaurant in Terrebonne, with Phyllis Platt, one of the executive producers. then it was time to be onset. Exciting and unsettling - that's how it was for me....exactly like the scene they were filming. I'm so impressed by the director, the actors, their desire to come and speak with me about the characters. they're all reading ahead in the series. Michael and I felt so welcome and welcomed.
But, as I said, the highlight was finally meeting the astonishing Ralph Cosham. He plays an art critic in the scene and nailed his lines (of course). he's as gracious and charming and thoughtful as you'd think. Here's a photo of nathaniel Parker (playing Gamache in the films), moi, and Ralph. Imagine being in a Chief Inspector Gamache sandwich? Lord, take me now.

And new pic

Cheers!

Gamache Sandwich *lol*

I´m glad they didn´t costume Nathaniel for Gamache.
And this poses a great challenge to proove his acting skills aswell (hope these are the right words :S ).
Of course the people and the press will compare the two inspectors.

You can´t say "Gamache is not Thommy Lynley, because he has got a beard, a funny cap or whatever." And Nat has to make sure he is not Lynley only by playing different, not by looking different. That´s exciting.

I have now read three of the Louise Penny books and loving everyone. I can image Nat playing the lead a very complex person.

How soon I wonder will it come to the UK?

... or to Germany?

As yet I only read the 1st book and like it too. The next days I will start to read the 2nd. I also can imagine Nat as Gamache with or without a moustache ;).
Would be great if there will be some more films.
Greetings
:) :)
