Dear Jessika,

Why is my avatar so small? I tried to increase the size from 72 x 49 to 89 x 60, but it doesn't work. Everyone else has at least 100 x 75 to 100 x 100.

Thanks.

Pat

First of all I've been moving your question from the forum for Questions for Nat to this spot if you don't mind.

Then avatars again: several things that are causing this.

First of all it would be lovely if you in a starter step delete your old avatar and then in a second step upload a new one. Last time you changed it you simply uploaded a new format png, and this format was even corrupted because you maltransformed it before uploading from jpg to png.

That's why the server choose to pick the 89-pixel-width-png-maltransformed-one. That's why you will never get a 100pixel picture, try as hard as you will.

Then: you avatar is rectangularly shaped. The max. size is 200 - the upper, longer side of you avatar isn't in fact 200px long and will never be, because you chose to make it so. Make it 200px max. in width and length before uploading, it will appear a tad bigger then. It will get "longer" when you decide to choose a square shaped avatar. I think I've made the standard width 100 px, that's about big enough to display in the forum.

Hope this helps. First of all "take out all the garbage", then prepare your avatars and then upload them again. Max image size is 200kB, the system will - starting from your original measurements - do the rest for you. If you do experience problems deleting your stuff properly, tell me so an I shall do the little housekeeping for you.

Cheers!

Ok. I made it a jpg 124 x 82, but it didn't change. When you "edit" avatar it doesn't give you the option to delete the old one, just "use current", "default" or "upload new". I'll put the pics here, including signature pic, which is small too. Thanks.

BTW, there is no option to "preview" your post b/4 sending, so I don't know if these are big enough either.

Hugs.

Pat

Dear Pat

So the first thing I did was throw you out  Yeah.

No really I needed to have your user for a while.

Two things. Set your user to default & save before uploading new things. When you did that, clear your browser's cache because it has a tendency to simply use old information it had gathered instead of new, so new pictures mostly will not be displayed correctly. This has NOTHING to do with this forum, it's the behaviour of your local browser. With FF the emptying goes control+shift+r. It empties the cache and reload the page. I made a squared avatar like described and uploaded it, see now its as big as it can possibly can get. Try to avoid rectangle avatars!

Regarding your signature stuff, yes we do have a height limit now. And your linked-in pic exceeds it, in fact it has 222*319. Simple as that, noting you can do about that. 700px width max and 200px it is, yours is 319 px long. You'd have to resize it (you're linking directly from photobucket, so you need to change it there and update your link here), so that the max you'll get 700*200. Else it will be resized automatically here.

For future avatar and signature changes, please check the Help tab of this forum (sizes and all are explained there).

I will send you your "new" password that you will kindly renew to your needs.

Cheers!
