Dear Nenne,

Thank you so much for the suggestion! :) :D :) I was able to find the whole film on YouTube:

Nat has an *amazing* American accent! I mean it's just pitch-on! He has the point of articulation completely, and I'm very picky about British actors "doing" American accents. (Plus, his dance moves are *very* smooth.) How wonderful to see Bill Nighy too, as a younger actor, and Charles Grey.

The play reminded me of reading Peter O'Toole's autobiography, Loitering With Intent: The Apprentice, where in parts he talks about his carousing with friends. I remember Dad too, and his friends in England, being able to drink quite a lot without getting paralytic. I found it odd that they socialized in a pub, and they found it odd that I didn't drink and felt uncomfortable in one.

I guess it's just the difference between a European attitude towards drink and our "American Puritanism". Not that people don't get drunk here, but the whole club/pub scene isn't prevalent. Bars aren't considered nice places on the whole -- at least not by me with my German Baptist upbringing. Perhaps I've missed out on a whole bunch of fun. Although, I did survive liver cancer, so it was lucky for me I was a teetotaler, or so said my doctors.

Anyway, a *wonderful* suggestion, I enjoyed watching ABSOLUTE HELL, and recommend it to everyone here! Thank you so much!!!

Cheers, :) :D :)

Hi Lynn,

I realized this thread is not recent but I just wanted to say what a wonderful idea for Nat to play an older version of Edward Rochester. I have long thought he would be great in this part. (As you can probably guess from my handle, I am a huge Bronte fan - been obsessed with Jane Eyre since I was in high school). Too bad they keep choosing everyone else under the sun to play Rochester, though William Hurt was okay and in the 2011 version Michael Fassbender was also quite good. I am not sure who I would choose to play Jane. I am not sure about Anna Paquin. She is a wonderful actress but I don't know about her playing the part of Jane.
