I wonder if the Inspector Lynley Mysteries are set up so that we, the viewers, will sometimes "catch" subtle irregularities, discrepancies, or goofs, so that we feel a type of contribution in addition to simply watching the show; they are, after all, mysteries, and worthy of not just watching, but investigating and looking into. Maybe the goofs are designed to keep us on our toes. In season 1, with Havers lying about the fact that she really did smoke, it first, I thought it was a blooper when she lit up, then realized that because she was just beginning to work with Lynley, she probably didn't want to reveal too much of herself personally, and this was a struggle for her, sometimes to the point that she took out her frustruations out on him. The storyline then swayed that way as a simple fib on her part. ;)

In IL3, A Cry for Justice, at the end Havers has that fluffy, green and white striped turtleneck on in one scene, off in the next, on in the next, and off in the next. It's a pullover, so it's not that easy to shed. Unless she really believes in dressing in layers!
