Just a small hint that Flawless is due to come out on DVD in the UK on March 30th, 2009 while we are celebrating Sir Michael Caine's birthday today. A grateful "Happy Birthday To You" from here...

This excellent heist thriller is directed by Michael Radford. It is set in swinging 1960s London. Demi Moore plays Laura Quinn, a bright, driven and beautiful executive at the London Diamond Corporation who finds herself frustrated by a glass ceiling. Michael Caine plays Hobbs, the night-time janitor at London Diamond who is virtually invisible to the executives that work there. He has his own bone to pick with London Diamond. Observing Lauras frustration, he convinces her to help him execute an ingenious plan to steal a hefty sum in diamonds. But Hobbs plans go even further, and together they set in motion a thrilling heist of dizzying proportions, the likes of which London has never seen...

I saw on the internet that people asked whether this is based on a true story or not. Well this is a fictional script, but the film remains very faithful to its setting. Detailed costumes and sets and strong attention to all aspects of that time instantly transport viewers back to a different era. This stylish thriller slowly draws its audience in as its characters take on more depth.  It is an elegant homage to classics like "The Italian Job" and "Gambit". If you'd like to you can also access the movie's homepage and have a look at the trailer.
