As the last leg of the filming at Chateau Pierrefonds in France is about to commence, I'd like to give you a quick update on the current news that's surrounding Merlin series four. First of all there's a lot of talk going on on the net as to when the fourth series will be broadcast in the UK.

It seems highly likely that the actual broadcast will start from October 8th, 2011. This is still a speculation on the grounds of the fact that Merlin always followed Doctor Who on BBC One. The BBC did not as yet confirm any broadcast details so far. I shall try to keep you posted on more details as they come available to me. You'll find more details right here.

Then there's also more great news about a brand-new official Merlin magazine that is about to come out on UK newsstands from September 9th, 2011 and a next issue is scheduled for November 11, 2011. It will cover all about series four and can be ordered for international delivery. You can also buy more merchandise as the Merlin calendar for 2012 will come out on October 1st, 2011. Preview images are now available at Calendar Club and Danilo, the publisher of the calendar.

There's a special screening planned for September 15th, 2011 from 18:15 (GMT) at BFI Southbank. Tickets have already been sold completely as they were sold exclusively to BFI members via telephone only. Some members of the production will attend this event for a Q&A session plus a first episode will be shown. As you know Nat is also planned to host the Debbie Fund Ball that very evening.

The guys over at CultBox are currently running an exclusive series of interviews with Merlin cast members they recorded a few weeks ago in Cardiff. Starting this week is Katie McGrath with some interesting insights and teasers for series four.

A fith series is planned and confirmed by the producers of Merlin. The series will also be shown in the USA after the broadcast in the UK. But that's still a year to go folks!

Then some might be interested to do some catching up by having a closer look at series four via DVD - this is will be possible by pre-ordering the first set via amazon.co.uk and I heard that an Australian DVD with all episodes from series three is also out to buy. Lucky folks in Germany will be able to watch the complete third series via Super RTL from October 11th & 12th, 2011. Please check your local TV schedules for more details.
