Here's some fine news for Nat's fans in Australia. Merlin will commence on Channel TEN from Sunday October 16, 2011 at 18:30 local time. This will be the fourth season, airing in Australia around two weeks after the premiere on BBC One (UK). Joining the cast will be Nathaniel Parker as Arthur’s uncle, Agravaine, and Gemma Jones as the Cailleach.

Have fun ya!

Merlin IV's kick off drew in 5.23 million viewers which equals an average of 22,7% audience share for the time slot on Saturday evening according to overnight figures. The series opener was down 400.000 viewers compared to last year's start.

The first installment of Merlin was the fourth highest rated TV show on October 1, 2011. "Merlin -The Darkest Hour - Part 1" was in competition with The X-Factor (being the big winner of that day with 9.5 million viewers).

The series' finale of Doctor Who, which had the third-highest rating of 6.1 million was on before the actual broadcast of Merlin. Strictly Come Dancing came in second place with 7.5 million viewers tuning in.

Please do note that the official viewing figures vary from the overnight figures due to online catch-up services like BBC iPlayer etc.

Here's some good news regarding the DVD editions for Merlin IV. As you already know, series four will come out in two volumes. Volume one will be released on DVD on Monday 28th November. Series 4 Volume two and (far more intrestingly) the complete Series 4 boxset will be released on Monday 23rd January 2012. You can pre-oder Volume one already via amazon or any other online retailer of your choice if, you're desperate to get hold of the first DVDs.

The boxset's exclusive bonus features will include a 'making of Series 4' documentary, cast and crew audio commentaries, hilarious out-takes, deleted scenes and behind the scenes photo gallery and wallpapers for your computer. Each DVD will also include a top trump card exclusive to the DVD. So I'd tend to say it's hard not to get hold of this one...
