breaking_the_border_02There's good news for one of Nat's latest projects, The Domino Effect, directed by Oscar nominee Paula van der Oest. The films initial producer, Kasander Film, is the leading Dutch independent production house which together with production company F&ME announced that they have agreed on a pact that includes four films, including The Domino Effect. London-based production powerhouse Film and Music Entertainment (F&ME) is to co-produce four films over the coming 12 months, with further collaborations expected to be announced in the coming weeks. All included films will definitely benefit from F&ME's in-house relationship with London post-house Molinare. The first deal is said to be worth over $17,500,000 in production spend.

"A key UK partnership is essential if we are to compete with our English language projects in the international marketplace," says Rotterdam-based Kasander , "and in Film and Music Entertainment we have found a UK-based fellow traveller whose doors are open to making truly international European films. Their in-house relationship with Molinare fits perfectly with our existing European and international production relationships."

Paula van der Oest’s The Domino Effect is an apposite modern parable for our times which asks the question: "If global economy came to a sudden stop what would be the effect on families worldwide?"

"The Domino Effect is already in the can and is currently editing in the Netherlands," says F&ME co-principal Mike Downey, "and it will move to London to complete post-production later this year having completed shooting in the US, India, London, China, South Africa and the Netherlands. The film has taken on a powerful subject: that which shows people in different countries or continents might not seem to be interrelated but there is more than meets the eye and we might be more connected than we sometimes like to think."

"This isn’t one of those fantasy slates that you read about," F&ME says co-principal Mike Downey. "All four films are pretty much financed. We’re just bringing the last slice in." The Domino Effect is financed by the Netherlands Film Funds, the Rotterdam Media Fund, COBO, VARA, Video Film Express and Molinare taking advantage of the Tax credits of the State of Michigan and the Tax Credit scheme of the UK’s Her Majesty’s Revenue and Customs (HMRC).
