As our audiophile fans have been hoping for I'm more than happy to make an announcement for a new audio treat and try to fill the big shoes lovely Nat kindly has been passing on to me in his last posting...

Nat has been recording an all new radio play written exclusively for BBC radio 4 by Alistair McGowan and directed by Emma Harding. The title is "Three Pieces in the Shape of a Pear" and it stars Alistair McGowan as the main character Eric Satie, Imogen Stubbs (Suzanne Valadon), Nathaniel Parker (Claude Debussy), Charlotte Page (Paulette Darty), Kevin Eldon (Willy Gaulthier-Villar / LeRolle / Ravel), Philippa Stanton (Emma Debussy / Woman / Female), Michael Bertenshaw (Bertrand / Ed Dreyfuss / Fan Man) and David Seddon (Waiter / Gent / Sergeant). Dunno but to me it seems as if there's been a get together of old RSC acquaintances here.

Éric Alfred Leslie Satie (better known as Erik Satie) was a French composer, pianist and writer. Satie was an influential character in the early 20th century Parisian avant-garde. Satie's most famous work arguably is his series of compositions, known as the Gymnopédies. Here's a clip of Trois Morceaux en Forme de Poire - enjoy!

Fans will be eager to learn when this one will be broadcast, but the actual transmission date has not been announced so far. So we have to be patient, but with a great deal of anticipation. The good news is that hopefully you all will be able to listen in as BBC Radio 4 has an online transmission system that also works outside the UK. I'll try and keep you posted on this.
