The Outcast BBC One’s two-part adaptation of Sadie Jones’ novel The Outcast will premiere on Sunday July 12, 2015 from 21:00 to 22:30 (GMT). The second and final part is scheduled for BBC One on July 19, 2015 from 21:00 to 22:30 (GMT).

The Outcast is the story of Lewis. When his mother suddenly dies she's leaving the 10 year old boy alone with a father he barely knows. When his father decides to remarry, Lewis relies on his friendship with neighbouring children Tamsin and Kit. But thier father is not all he seems. Tamsin and Kit negotiate a safe childhood whilst a grief-stricken Lewis sets about destroying his. All but abandoned by his father, events in Lewis’s teenage years begin to spiral out of control and take him further and further away from the help that he needs.

The two-parter was adapted by original author Sadie Jones, directed by The Wings of the Dove helmer Iain Softley and produced by indie Blueprint Pictures. The Outcast stars George MacKay (Birdsong), Hattie Morahan (The Bletchley Circle), Greg Wise (Sense And Sensibility), Jessica Brown Findlay (Jamaica Inn), Daisy Bevan (The Two Faces of January), Jessica Barden (Far From The Madding Crowd) and Nathaniel Parker (Stardust). The executive producers are Christine Langan, Beth Pattinson and Pete Czernin.
