The Lionesses!!!!! What a brilliant tournament they have had. What a brilliant team mentality. It was just a great night for both women and for football. Football may not be my favourite sport of all but it is the common Global sport and has been ripe for change for some time. Who knows the impact on the International perception, but certainly amongst the male players and supporters this was something to cherish and admire. As for the night being great for women, how can it not be?
10,000 feet is a long way up. Over 3km . That's quite a long way to fall from an aeroplane. Mind you the plane itself wasn't the most comfortable, it didn't even meet Ryanair or EasyJet's level of service, but little reason to jump. I was shuffled along the floor to the gaping whole that is the door by Tim, my wee Scottish instructor. To be fair he's not that wee at all, and thank heavens he knew what he was doing! Very sweet guy. As were a few of the other "passengers" who I got chatting to before the jump. Congrats to one and all who did it. I think we all felt we would do it again, tho' none of us named the date!
SO, I have got back from Spain where I walked and rode some of the El Camino with The Big Hoof team. Thank you my girls for getting me to do it. EXTRAORDINARY experience. Humbling and exhilarating. Please support them on their last day. What an epic journey. What an EPIC team. I am truly honoured to have been a part of it.
I got home at 1.45am this morning. Off to Oxford in a minute to go see my old chum Jim Basker who runs a Summer Shakespeare's school for US students. A brilliant man, who is actually my sister's mate, but feels like a part of the family. I have a Q&A with his students. Great fun, but then I am off at 5.00am tomorrow to go SKY DIVING!!!!!
Why Oh Why Oh Why... am I jumping out of a plane? Well, to be honest, I have always wanted to. Strange and bizarre I know. I am gradually piecing things together as I get older, and I think 60 is the kinda age when I am allowed to piece things together and come to my own conclusions. Not my own facts you understand, just conclusions. I have said a few times how I discovered my profession when I was 9 visiting my sister in Cambridge as she played Lady Macbeth in her first year. I went up all by myself as a 9 year old on the train and watched her that night at the ADC. Seeing Lucy up there, My Sister, playing at being a Scottish Queen from the dark times of history, made me realise that THIS was acting. THIS was what I had to do.
Hello everyone, I have had a wonderfully hectic ride the last 2 or 3 weeks. Hence the lack of Nat during birthday week. I have been having a great time, with so many people to thank for the hugely generous presents and wishes. So, in one blast THANK YOU ALL!
