Hello one and all, this is one of the more exciting weeks of my life. The possibilities at the beginning of the week seem endless. I am sure by the end, reality will have kicked in and I will feel as hectic as ever and feet will be firmly on the ground.
But as it is, I head into a couple of production meetings for a project that isn't yet in actual pre-production, so no official announcement yet, but after a few years effort, I feel as though I've hauled it up the top of a mountain and we are about to shoot down the slopes! Obviously I haven't hauled anything up there by myself, I couldn't have done, but tremendously proud to be a part of it. I will let all details out when I can. but well done those "guessers", you're not dumb huh!
He is so cool isn't he? I thought he was amazing in The Joker and he well deserved the BAFTA. More importantly tho' was his speech last night. For me that was a Standing Ovation time. I don't get what has happened in recent years, and I don't just mean BAFTA, but many organizations are just not seeing the bigger picture. It helps nobody to be introverted in this business. Inclusivity is all. Whether that be on the set or off the set or in the office or editing suite, feeding or transporting, this industry is ripe for inclusivity and should be taking action to make sure blinkers are left off! I wish Florence Pugh had got her BAFTA, but it will come soon I am sure. So thrilled for George MacKay to be part of an amazing theatrical piece. Wow, what a film. Thrilled Jojo Rabbit got a gong, but I would have preferred Little Women to get more.
This week apparently we "leave" the EU. Without any sort of deal set up. Our government and over half the country seem to think this will be an easy process. Bizarre, not least because we have given the upper hand to the EU in every aspect of negotiations. You all know my feelings about this fiasco. Fair enough that we are doing it, that is what the country voted for, and we live in a quasi democracy, but Boris pretending we have any sort of benefit ahead is absolutely living in denial. He and Laurence Fox deserve each other as far as I can see.
Well, this is a helluva start to the year. I am still waiting with baited breath to include you in my actual real concrete news. As you know I don't like to tempt fate by announcing anything before signed sealed delivered etc. but I will very soon.
Congratulations to Annabel Lee and all those involved, we are hitting a few interesting festivals. Yayyyyy.
The world is doing strange things isn't it? Poor Australia with it's devastating fires and then mad rain. And an establishment in complete denial. Not often one gets to say this, but well done James Murdoch for having a go at your father. For those who don't know he admonished his father for giving so much support and airtime to the climate deniers in charge over there.
